Also present in Chipping, at Grove Row, are Thomas Leeming, 61, Shop Keeper of Bolton, his wife Isabella, 53, of Manchester, and Elizabeth Beardswood, 24, Thomas' widowed stepdaughter, a Winder in a Cotton Mill, of Preston. Any relation?
By 1861 James and Jane are still living at Saddle Side. Living with them are John and Sarah, still, but in addition Jane Crook, their 9 year old grand daughter from Brindle, is present.
By 1871 Jane is dead as James is a widower. Still living with him is John. The farm has now shrunk to 12 acres. |
