| Her birth certificate shows Adeline was born at 48 Albert Road, Blackpool. her father, James William Oulton, is not mentioned on the certificate. Her birth was registered on 27th November 1893 and the registrar was Thomas Dixon. Lived at 5A Grummock Rd, Preston at time of her mother's death. Adeline joined a National Health Insurance scheme, run by the Prudential Approved Society for Women, registered number 137, on 14th November 1912 and remeined a fully paid up member for at least 5 quarters - the only records we have. When she joined the scheme she lived at 7 Hornby Street, Blackpool but moved to 4 Swainson Street. | |||||||||||||

| Thomas Francis was known during his life as Frank. On 30th October 1917 Frank received a Signalling Certificate confirming he had attended the sixth course at the divisional school between 6/9/1917 and 26/10/1917. At the time he was rank Gunner no 701322 of Regiment B Battalion, 210 Brigade Royal Field Artillary. By 6th December 1918 he was acting Bombardier and qualified to act as an Assistant Instructor of Signalling. At demob Frank was owed £58 7s 3d by the army for earnings, war gratuity etc. and lived at 28 Carnarvon Rd, Preston. However, a s4cond demob account shows he was only owed £51 9s. Which was the correct amount? Following demob Frank resumed his apprenticeship with William Hardman of 45 Cannon St, Preston, as a painter and decorator, his previous apprenticeship having been terminated on 22nd December 1917, his 21st birthday, presumably due to call up for the war. On 24th September 1920 Frank received the 1914-15 Star decoration. According to his death certificate, Thomas, of 18 Grafton Street, Preston, House Painter Jouneyman, died of 1a Paralytic Ileus, b General Perinonitis, c Perforated Duodenal Ulcer, certified by G M Arnott. he death was registered by his widow, Adeline Hannah, on 26th January 1942. The register was J Wilding. On 29th January 1942 Adaline, Frank's wife, paid £5 12s 6d for plot 673 in Preston cemetery. This, together with other costs, took the price of the funeral to £22 2s. The bill was settled 31st January 1942. | |||||||||||||

| According to the certificate, at the time of their marriage, Thomas was described as a Painter and Decorator (Journeyman) of 28 ??son Road, Preston, the son of Charles James Duke, Ship??? Labourer, and Adeline was described as a Photographic Assistant of 23 Arthur Street, Preston, the daughter of James William Oulton, Plumber (Journeyman). The witnesses were Charles James Duke and Rachel Isabel Davies, the registrars being J G Swarbrick and Roger Carter ??? | |||||||||||||
