| Notes for Alice (Spouse 1) |
Her birth certificates shows she was born at home, at Little London. On the certificate her name is spelled Pike. Har father's occupation is given as Stripper and Grinder. Her mother's name is given as Ann Pike, formerly Preston. Her birth was registered by Tomas Pike, occupier, Little London, Wigan, on fifth September. Presumably he was John's brother? The registrar was Robert Halliwell.
Alice's death certificate lists her as the widow of Thomas Sinclaire, overlooker in cotton mill of 58 Lime Street, Wigan, her death being of something totally unreadable and certified by James Bradbury at 12 Weston Street, Wigan. The death was registered by her son, John, on 10th May 1905, the registrar being Robert Halliwell, who had been the registrar for her daughter Ann's wedding ten years earlier. |
| Notes for Thomas & Alice (Family) |
Thomas and Alice married at St John's RC Chapel, both aged 22. Thomas' occupation is given as Colliery Laborer and Alice's as Powerloom Weaver.
Thomas' father, John, is already dead, but his occupation is given as Overlooker in a Cotton Factory. Alice's father, John, is described as a Carter. The wedding was witnessed by Richard and Jane Pike and the presiding priest Joseph Gradwell. The registrar was James Jolley. |
