TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

I have much pleasure in testifying to the character and abilities of Mr Walter Dyke.

He has been employed at these works since July 30th 1917, and I hold the highest opinion of his qualifications as a skilled blacksmith.

He has been engaged on Wagon Iron Work of every class and Motor Wagon Iron work, requiring very careful handling, and expert knowledge.

He has had a thoroughly good alround training, and his present capabilities prove that he has taken full advantage of his training and experience. I have, therefore, every confidence in strongly recommending him for any position requiring the exercise of his abilities. I am quite certain he would carry out his duties creditably and efficiently.

I always found him respectful, honest and reliable, assiduous and enterprising when at work, steady and well behaved when away; altogether eminently fitted for a responsible post in some Engineering section of His Majesty's Forces.

I shall be pleased to give any further informatin that may be required relative to his character and qualifications.

Signed H W Hitchen
