Ann's death certificate describes her as the widow of John Dyke, mule spinner in coton mill. She died of pneumonia, as certified by H Litherland, L. S. A. Her death was registered by her grandson, Thomas Dyke, of the same address. The registrar was Jeffery Baynes.
At the time of the wedding Ann's father, Charles, was a weaver. |

John's death at home, 8 Trentham Street, Newtown, Pemberton, was from bronchitis and cardiac failure as certified by A J Hynd, M. B. It was registered by his son, Robert, of 30 Arundel Street on fifth February, the registrar being Jeffery Baynes.
At the time of the 1861 census John and family lived at 23 Ormskirk Road. John gives his occupation as Overlooker in a Cotton Mill.
On the date of the 1871 census John and family lived at 187 Brunswick Street and had an occupation of "Labourer at Copperas", but by the 1881 census had moved to 154 Ormskirk Road, and son Walter had married, left home and had a son. There's no mention of Margaret on any census return. Why? Had she died? |
