At the time of the 1851 census the family lived at 24 Burns Yard. Peter's age is given as 44 and his occupation as Weaver (Cotton) employong 10 men. Living with the family was his father, William, who's age was given as 79, who was described as a Retired Weaver, widower of Standish.
By the time of the 1861 census the family had moved to 15 Burns Yard. Living with them were daughter Elizabeth, and Mary Ann Mears, aged 4, described as a lodger. Was she a niece? She does have the same name as Peter's wife? |

By the time of the 1871 census Mary Ann is a widow living at 15 Burns Yard, Scholes, Wigan. Still living with her is her son William, now aged 36 and still a Coal Miner. |
