Introduction

This web page is based mainly on information researched at Lancashire Record Office by my mother and I from Bishops' Transcripts, LRC books and census returns, but also from the Mormon IGI on fiche, on CD ROM and on the web. Almost all information obtained from the IGI has been confirmed in the Transcripts.

However, I did come to a dead end in a few places. These were bypassed with information provided various people. Where this is the case I have referenced them within the comments. All other information received from other people has merely confirmed what I already knew without providing more detail.

If anyone seeing this page has information they feel would be of interest, has suggestions for further research sources or can correct any information they believe to be incorrect (including my typing errors) please email me with the details. Any new information provided will be referenced.

The main names researched are Oulton, Dyke, Raper, Auty and Crook, with various off shoots. On the odd occasion I didn't pass the afore mentioned dead ends, but I'm always hopeful. I'll update the page as and when I do.

I haven't included anyone who is still alive, or anyone from their generation downwards, on this site. It therefore comes to an end with my grand parents and their brothers and sisters. From this generation onwards everyone is shown as "Still Alive", whether they are or not.

I've included a few photos dotted around the pages. Given how long these can take to load I've made them quite small but in some cases you can click on the photo to see a larger version.

Where I've remembered I've also converted dates from the Julian calender to the Gregorian calender where years are concerned, though I have probably missed some. Not that this really makes much of a difference, especially after 1752.

I've indicated my direct ancestors by bracketing their names thus : >>> A N Other <<<
